In my world, there are no coincidences. My life journey has proven this many times over. Several years ago, I wanted to change careers and move into the technology sector. In order to validate my desire, I attended an industry conference. Standing next to me at the conference mixer was a man that had recently acquired a company that sold software. You can guess the rest. I was his first employee. Together, we took a chance on the unknown. My dear friend, Caryn, can tell you about the time we were white water rafting in Utah and I turned to her and said, "Seattle, that is where I am going to move." Yes, she had thought I had lost my mind. I hadn't. Three weeks later I was recruited by a company that moved me to Seattle. And what Caryn also would tell you is the fact that I had never been to Seattle and I didn't know a soul. You might say that since I lived there for 31 years, it was a good call.
Fast forward to now...Last spring, I began to look for a winter home for the"season." My search led us to Jack and Darla, our "landlords" at Rancho Casa Blanca. They had a cancellation for their RV lot so we snatched it up without a second thought. We figured, "what have we got to lose?"... we hadn't considered the fact that we had everything to gain. The moment we arrived we started drinking the kool-aid. Our neighbors, Susan and Rich, greeted us like we had known each other for 40 years. We found we loved the community, the abundance of activities, the desert mountains, and of course, the sunshine. And yet, when people asked, "are you coming back next year?" I would answer with a pregnant pause, "no, probably not." That was until three weeks ago. While riding my bike to the front gate to meet our dear friends, Jeremy and Rene, I rode my bike a different way. I don't know why I did and yet, I didn't give it a second thought. As I turned the corner, there before me stood a sign that read "For Sale." It was like looking into a pair of headlights. Remember how there are no coincidences? I know you can guess the rest and you would be right. We close on our new winter tiny house in less than a month...all 399 sq feet of her. And we love her!
If you stop and pause, you may discover as I have, there are no coincidences.
